ABOUT ROCKYSTART INC.
RockyStart Inc. and Educator Events was established in 2014, with the focus to help source and provide opportunities for professional development and networking occasions for all Early Childhood Educators in the Central Queensland community, as well as recognize the significant contribution and services our Educators provide to our children and this region.
To date, our activities focused on the needs of Early Childhood Educators and have included:
· Organizing team building and networking events/opportunities, which have included guest speakers coming to the region, sharing their expert knowledge on a variety of topics
· Sourcing sponsors for events held within our region
· Organizing and hosting the Early Childhood Educators Ball and Awards
· Hosting “Educators with Drive” bus tours, where services have had the opportunity to showcase their environments and programs with other educators
The new RockyStart Inc. committee is focused on revitalizing the networking opportunities for Early Childhood Educators through Educator Events, but also on broadening the scope of networking to include not just educators, but families and organizations across our region. We will engage with organizations and people that work and/or interact with children birth to 12 years in the Rockhampton Regional and Livingstone Shire Council areas.
As a member-based, not-for-profit organization, we aim to:
1. Respond to the needs of our local community
2. Engage with the whole community to seek advantages for all
3. Provide a forum for capacity building, peer support, networking and professional development
We do this through the following groups/networks:
RockyStart Inc. – RockyStart Inc. aims to work with people, organizations and networks to enhance capacity building, peer support, networking and professional development. Through our not for profit status, we will support organizations' funding applications that will benefit local children, and promote the importance of the health and wellbeing of every young person in our region.
Early Years Network – The Early Years Network (EYN) was established in 2014 with the intention of bringing together services that support children aged birth to 12 years and their families. Monthly meetings provide an opportunity for information sharing, capacity building, and collaboration that contributes to the positive health and wellbeing of children in our community. The EYN also organizes and hosts bi-monthly PD, as well as maintaining an email network to support members.
Educator Events – Educator Events was established to help source and provide opportunities for professional development and networking occasions for all Early Childhood Educators in the Central Queensland community, as well as recognize the significant contribution and services our Educators provide to our children and this region. Moving forward, Educator Events will host a ball to celebrate Early Childhood Educators, an Educators with Drive tour of services, PD and Regular Challenges to motivate and promote the work of Early Childhood Education and Care Services.
